The flanged nuts have a flange, a flat or slightly raised edge that provides a larger surface area for the distribution of pressure and reduces the risk of the nut loosening due to vibrations or torque.

These are particularly useful in applications with a risk of vibration or limited space, as the flange eliminates the need for a separate washer.
