FAQ - Rivets
What are rivets used for?
Rivets are permanent fasteners used to join materials such as metal, plastic, and wood. Commonly used in construction, automotive, and industrial applications, rivets provide a strong, vibration-resistant fixing. Unlike screws or bolts, rivets create a secure, tamper-resistant joint that is ideal for long-term use.
What types of rivets are available?
There are several types of rivets available, including blind rivets (also known as pop rivets), solid rivets, and multi-grip rivets. Blind rivets are the most popular as they can be installed from one side, making them ideal for hard-to-reach areas. The best rivet type depends on the material, thickness, and application.
How do you install rivets?
Rivets are installed using a rivet gun or riveter. To install a blind (pop) rivet, insert it into a pre-drilled hole and use the tool to pull the mandrel, which expands the rivet and secures it in place. Once set, the mandrel snaps off, leaving a strong and permanent fixing.
